Congratulations to Katherine and Hattie, who represented the Southern Region and have qualified for the National NDP Finals in July!
The girls were both competing in Double Mini-Trampoline event at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, having been selected following their performances in the regional events earlier in the year.
Katherine competed at the Over 13s NDP4 category and came 4th. The scoring was close and she was just 0.6 off of 3rd place following her 4 passes.
Hattie competed in the Over 13s NDP3 category and she achieved 5th place, with less than 2 marks separating positions 2nd through to 5th in another close group.
An excellent performance from both girls and congratulations to them both, along with the rest of the Southern Region, for their results over the weekend.
Full results from the event can be found on the British Gymnastics website.
Congratulations to Stuart Sharpe, who took joint 1st Place at the 2nd National Spring Series event of the year.
2015 champion Stuart performed well to come top of his group, ending with exactly the same score as William Morton-Hall of Trafford Trampoline Club, who was new to competing in the National Category 1 section.
The whole group was a good demonstration of the risk vs reward nature of Trampoline competitions. Some competitors opting for much more difficult routines but a greater risk of losing out on ‘execution’ scores, while others went for simpler routines aiming to perform them with greater neatness. This altogether made for an exciting competition!
Stuart’s success, combined with his First Place at the previous Spring Series event, means that he has qualified through to the British Championships taking place at the beginning of July where he will have the opportunity to defend his title.
All of the results from the event can be found on the British Gymnastics website.

As part of the evening we will be electing a new Chairman, Secretary and Social Secretary, as Andy, Clare and Lauren are all due to step down. We are happy to answer any questions or provide advice to any questions, and jobs can even be shared.
We look forward to seeing lots of people there!
2015 British Champion, Stuart Sharpe, kicked off his 2016 season in style as he came first in the opening Spring Series event of the year.
As competitors from around the country descended upon Coventry and the Ricoh Arena. There were some excellent routines throughout the Mens Category 1 group, showing just how hard the gymnasts and their coaches have been working. Stuart showed no signs of nerves, nailing his first routine and taking an early lead. He then pulled out his bigger skills for his second routine and, despite spending a rather unhealthy amount of time at one of end of the trampoline, completed all of his skills to come away with a gold medal and a winning start to his season.
For his family in the audience, and for coach Sylvia, it was a worthwhile trip and they were all thrilled with his performance.
Congratulations to Stuart, and a brilliant start to his season!
Pete Walley can celebrate after coming away with a silver medal when he came 2nd at the first National Trampoline League event of the year.
Pete, who passed his coaching qualifications last year as well, was competing in his first ever National event, and showed enormous composure and concentration to somersault his way into 2nd place in the 19+ Mens League 3 category. Pete completed his most difficult routine to date, and had to perform it three times following his qualification to the Final after the first two rounds. It was a performance he should be proud of, and his coach Andy praised Pete, saying “he has worked so hard leading up to this to get his routine, and this shows what he is capable of”.
Alton also had three other members taking part in the League 3 category, and they too were competing in their first open National event. Katherine and Hattie both finished their routines in the 13-14 Girls, in a huge group consisting of over 60 gymnasts! Chloe gave a good account of herself, improving on her recent performances at Regional level, coming 22nd and securing League points in the 17-18 Ladies group.
Well done to all four of our members, who will take much away from their experience. This looks to be a sign of things to come as we begin to see more of our members start to compete in National events.
Huge congratulations to our members Alex and Robert who this past weekend have become NATIONAL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONS!
Alex, from Sun Hill Junior School, was competing in the Under 14 Disability Category 1 group. His older brother Robert, from Perins school, competed in the Under 19 Disability Category 1 group. Both of the brothers, from Alresford, showed great composure and confidence to show off their routines and their great scores meant that they both finished first in their respective groups.
After two qualifying rounds back in December and January, this was a just reward for the two of them who, following their successful performances last year, were determined that they had to compete somersaults in their routines the next time they took part in a competition. Over this time they have shown a terrific attitude and have worked hard along with their coaches Andy, Lee and Sylvia. For their families especially, to see both of them standing proud with the winners trophies was a wonderful sight to see!
Thank you to their families and to Andy as well, for making the near-450 mile round trip to Wigan so that they could take part!
Congratulations once again to our two National Schools Champions!
Congratulations to Federica, who won 3rd place at the 2016 East Hampshire Sports Awards in the Junior Disability Sportsperson category. She was nominated by her school following a successful year of competing in Regional competitions, learning new skills, and for qualifying through for the Finals of the National Schools Championships.
Well done to Federica!

Alton played host to the Southern region as clubs from across the area visited us to take part in the Regional Team Qualifier.
We had 14 gymnasts who had all qualified to reach this event, and it was a busy day with over 200 gymnasts in total competing in order to represent the Southern region in May.
In the NDP 1 group, Rosina, Jasmine, and Jonty all unfortunately scored zero in their first routines. However, they each showed tremendous attitude by dusting themselves off and returning to compete strong second routines. Elizabeth and Jess both completed their routines well and showed the improvement they’re making by obtaining their highest scores of the season! Courtney also came away with a strong showing, coming 8th but still hitting the qualification score of 45.0, showing the high level of competition in her group.
Competing in their first seasons at NDP 2 and 3, Scarlett, Tilly and Eloise all produced solid routines, with Tilly and Eloise both performing their second routines which scored their highest total to date!
In NDP 4 the boys Scott and James both improved on their scores at the previous event. Hattie smashed her total from earlier in the season and achieved the qualifying score, coming 6th in her group.
Finally, in the competitive NDP 5 event, Katherine easily surpassed her previous best and the qualifying score, just missing out on a trophy by coming 4th.
Following on from their success at the DMT competitions last month, both Katherine and Hattie had to pass the Range & Conditioning test. Both of the girls achieved the pass mark and we are delighted that they have qualified to represent the Southern Region in DMT!
Overall a busy day, but the event ran smoothly. Well done to all of the gymnasts who qualified to reach this event, an achievement in itself. Thank you to all of the volunteers who came along on the day to help make the event run as smoothly as it did, and also came in the night before to set everything up ready! Plus a thank you to Janet Payne for her work in administering the event.
Good luck to everyone who qualified to represent the Southern Region when you go to Birmingham for the Team Finals in May!

Congratulations to Maddison Woods, who has recently passed her Level 2 coaching course.
Maddi has been helping the club since Autumn last year, and has worked hard to build up her knowledge and experience so that she could demonstrate her competence in teaching the required skills.
Thank you as well to coaches Nicky and Abby for the help they gave to Maddi throughout.
We are currently collecting the Sainsburys ‘Active Kids’ vouchers. This has been a great scheme for us in recent years as we have managed to purchase some useful kit thanks to the generosity of those who have dropped vouchers into the box during our training sessions.
The 2016 scheme runs until May 3rd. We have a box available during every training session and a huge thank you to everyone that helps and supports us by donating their vouchers.
