There was much joy as Alton members produced a number of successful results at the local trampoline competition in Haslemere.
In its 3rd year since its inception, the local competition was open to all levels from Novice and TPD up to Elite, and saw members from Alton, Xcel, Alpha, Swallows and, for the first time, Portsmouth Schools Trampoline Club take part.
Anna and Elliot were both competing in the Intermediate groups – routines containing a front or back landing but no somersaults. Both were rewarded when they completed all of their skills as they were presented with 1st place trophies on top of the podium.
In the TPD category, sisters Federica and Elena were competing together in a competition for the first time. It proved to be a great occasion for the girls and they both came away with 2nd place trophies after completing all 20 skills.
Five Alton girls were all somersaulting in the Advanced category. There was little to choose between them as they all performed well. Scarlett scored an 8.0 in her set routine and her strong scores were enough for her to secure a place on the podium with 3rd place. Ezri and Jasmine came joint 4th and Lorna narrowly behind in 6th. Rosina showed how much she has improved over the last year with a lovely set routine and while a her voluntary didn’t quite go according to plan, she had plenty of positives to take away from 6th place in her group.
The Elite A group saw more trophies for Alton members as Hattie and Scott had to both find a way to fit on top of the podium as they came joint 1st in the Under 15s, while James and Seren earned Silver and Bronze respectively in the Over 15s. Also of note was Eloise who, despite a setback in her compulsory routine, completed an excellent 2nd routine which actually received the highest execution score out of all of the Elite competitors.
The day concluded with the always-impressive Synchro event. It proved to be a family affair as the sister pairings of Seren and Rosina, plus Jasmine and Eloise all came away with 3rd place in their respective groups to ensure that all family members came away with trophies! Following her 3rd place in the individual, Scarlett went one better as she and Ezri scored well to earn 2nd place, capping off a successful day for our members.
Thanks to Swallows for doing a good job of hosting the competition, with special mention to Richard Lewis for his work in organising the scheduling and entries for the event. The support throughout the competition from all clubs was great to see. Full results from the day can be found below and our results video will be completed soon.

Just a reminder that we are holding our next Open Committee Meeting this Friday 23rd September from 7:30pm at The Crown in Alton.
These meetings are a great opportunity to discuss all aspects of the club and is open to all members and parents. There will be a pay bar available throughout the evening as well. We look forward to seeing many people there!

The end of the Summer term sees us say a fond farewell to coaches Andy, Lauren and Angel, as they all stop coaching on a regular basis for us. We are grateful for all of their help and support over the past few years.
Andy started as a parent watching his son, decided to get involved and has been a hugely popular and enthusiastic coach ever since!
Lauren returned to the club she grew up with and been a wonderful coach for our ‘Splats’ members.
Angel started coaching as part of a GCSE course, stayed on to gain her coaching qualifications, and is now heading off to University.
All three were presented with gifts at their final training sessions and we would like to thank all of them for their efforts and success and wish them all the very best for the future.
More fantastic results for Alton Trampoline Club as Katherine and Hattie competed in the Trampoline & Tumbling NDP Finals, with Katherine coming away with a silver medal!
Both girls had earned their opportunity to compete in the Double Mini-Trampoline (DMT) event, having qualified following their performances at the Regional Team Finals in May.
Hattie competed in the Over 13s Level 3 and performed well on all four of her passes to come in 5th place. It was an incredibly tight group where every competitor was very much in contention for a medal after the first three passes.
For Katherine, competing in the Over 13s Level 4, this was her second time at the NDP Finals having come 4th in 2015. She was determined to improve on this and it showed when she produced four excellent passes, with no score lower than 9.3 throughout, coming 2nd and deservedly taking her place on the podium to receive her silver medal.
Congratulations to both girls, and to coach Sylvia for her work & support. 2016 has had such great success for the club and it’s great to see the hard work of our members paying off.

Alton Trampoline Club is celebrating as Stuart Sharpe retains his crown and comes away a winner at the 2016 British Championship!
Stuart was competing in the Disability Trampoline Category 1 Mens event and was attempting to emulate his success from 2015 where he was a winner in the same category. Having come first in both of the qualifying events earlier in the year, there was an expectation as Stuart took his place on the trampoline. In the Final though, everyone started from scratch and had one routine in which to impress the judges by performing 10-skill routine.
Stuart was attempting to compete the most difficult routine he had ever competed as he began his Final routine. Hearts were in mouths as his first skill, a piked half-out, headed towards the end of the trampoline, but he held firm and brought his subsequent skills back to the middle of the bed to successfully complete the routine. His scores earned him the highest total in his group and Stuart had become a two-time champion!
A relieved but delighted coach, Sylvia, exclaimed “could have done without giving me more grey hairs! Words cannot describe how proud I am”.
The standard of the category has improved significantly over the past year, with a number of competitors all performing double somersaults in their routines as well. It’s a great testament to all of the gymnasts and their coaches, and the support shown to each other by gymnasts, coaches, and families of those competing in the Disability Trampoline category is fantastic.
For Stuart, he has continued to work harder to improve and learn more difficult skills since last years’ accomplishment, and it is great that he has been rewarded with this success! Congratulations Stuart!

We are delighted to announce that Alton Trampoline Club have been signed off as an INclusive Club, one of the first 10 in the country!
I’M IN is British Gymnastics’ Disability Programme, which aims to create more participation opportunities for more disabled people in Gymnastics. The accreditation is evidence to show that Alton Trampoline Club has put in some great steps in place towards inclusivity and we are delighted that this has been recognised.
This is a major achievement for us, and demonstrates the opportunities that we are able to offer and the efforts of those involved at the club.

While Wales were celebrating a historic football victory in the Euros, another sporting event was taking place over the weekend of June 25th & 26th, as Cardiff played host to the 2nd National Trampoline League event of the year.
Two members from Alton traveled over the River Severn, with both Chloe and Pete competing in the League 3 category.
It was an early start for Chloe, whose family traveled across that morning for an 8:30am start. Chloe was then successful in completing both of her routines and improved upon her position from the League event a couple of months earlier, with a very respectable 19th place, earning her more League points in the process. She has continued to improve as the year has gone on which is great to see.
Pete took his place on the trampoline in the afternoon and completed a solid Compulsory routine. Unfortunately he suffered a blip and stopped during his Voluntary routine which saw his score marked out of 6. It is all good experience and Pete will learn much from only his second ever National competition.
Well done to both competitors and thanks to the Sports Wales National Centre and the organisers for running the event.
Full results from the event can be found on this link or The Trampoline League website.
The Summer is underway as Alton Trampoline Club held its annual Barbecue down at Alice Holt Forest on June 18th.
It was a lovely afternoon with many members, families & pets coming along to socialise, play games, and of course utilise the barbecue! Despite some dodgy-looking clouds, the weather held firm with the Sun finally coming out strong just in time for the now customary Adults vs Children Rounders contest (which saw the Adults retain their crown).
There will be more social events in the future for our club members and families. Here’s hoping the Sun continues to shine for everyone this Summer!
Katherine and Hattie finished a successful week of Trampolining for them both by coming away with Gold medals at the Southern Regional Novice & Synchro competition this past weekend.
Having qualified the previous week to compete individually at the National Finals, the girls joined up to compete as a pair in the exciting Synchronised Trampolining event. Excellent scores, all over 9.0, for synchronicity in their Compulsory routine helped them to secure 1st place in the Under 15s group.
As well as the Synchro, Alton members were also competing in the Individual Novice section. Sisters Federica and Elena both won trophies, coming 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Trampolinists with Disabilities category.
There were a few sets of siblings taking part, as Oliver and Sara were both taking part in their first competition, with Oliver coming 19th and Sara coming 13th after performing an extra jump in her 2nd routine. Additional medals were awarded to competitors at Club Level as well, for those that achieved certain scores for individual routines. Sara was awarded with a medal, since her first routine was one of the highest scoring routines in her group!
Sisters Freya and Jess weren’t able to reproduce the quality of their practice routines when they competed in the Synchro event, however Freya won a medal and achieved 7th place in the individual event. While no podium places, there were medals as well for Molly, Anna, and Milly as well for their performances.
Well done to all of the gymnasts who took part, and thank you to Swallows TC for hosting the event. Full results from the day can be found below, or from our our Downloads section.
