Alton Trampoline Club Intra-Club Competition 2015

On Sunday 6th December, from 2 – 4.30pm we will be hosting our annual Alton Trampoline Club Intra-Club Championships. This is open to all members of the club (& parents should they wish to get involved!) and we are happy for members to compete both individually and in the synchronised event.

The event is designed to encourage participation so all levels are available to try. It’s always a fun event and is great to see as many people there as possible supporting each other. It will also be brilliant to see as many members as possible in their ATC kit.

We will also be presenting our annual awards for the Most Improved members, and the highest scores achieved both on the day and from throughout the year.

Members are encouraged to email us if they would like to take part.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

25th Anniversary Party

To celebrate the Alton Trampoline Club’s 25th anniversary we are holding a party at Alton Maltings Centre on Saturday 14th November, from 4pm to 10pm.

We would love to see new and old members, so anyone who has ever been involved with us at any point in the last quarter of a century(!) is invited to come along and celebrate this amazing achievement for a voluntary sports club!

We look forward to seeing you there!!!

Happy 25th Birthday to us!

At 11am on Tuesday 3rd November Alton Trampoline Club celebrated 25 years since its very first session!

Founded by Sylvia Comber back in 1990, the club is still going strong today. We would like to thank to members, coaches, committee, and every single one of the volunteers that have contributed over the past quarter of a century – all have been influential in making the club such a success, and it would not have been possible without them.

It’s a wonderful achievement with so many people being able to try and enjoy the sport of Trampolining, making new friends and learning new skills. There have been highs and lows, and so many personal achievements, whether it is just the confidence to get on the trampoline or becoming a Champion. The Chairmen we have had have all been enthusiastic and terrific in moving the club forwards. We have had coaches develop with us: some have stayed, some have even moved on to run their own clubs. We have had members receive awards for volunteering – both at junior and senior level. Sylvia herself was rewarded for her dedication and impact by being selected to carry the Olympic Torch back in 2012.

We are continuing to build on the foundations laid over the years and this has seen us win the East Hampshire Club of the Year in 2014 as well as having a British Champion this year. Sylvia, still heavily involved, joyfully said “a very very big thank you for all your support over the last 25 years”.

Here’s to another 25 years!

Competition results from local Swallows TC Gala event

Alton Trampoline Club attended a local competition, hosted by Swallows Trampoline Club, with both Individual Novice levels & a Synchronised event taking place.

20 members from the club made the short trip, which saw them come away with 8 medals between them all. For some, such as Reuben and Ella, it was their first experience of a Trampoline competition, and they handled the occasion very well.

There were a few notable results, including Scott winning his NDP3 group, along with Hattie & Katherine winning the exciting Synchronised Trampolining event. Molly, Reuben, Federica, Emily & Becky all won medals at the competition, with Zaki doing incredibly well to come 4th after not being able to train his routine in the weeks leading up to the event.

There was great support shown by the other competitors and coaches and there was great comradery shown between all of the clubs involved. Well done to everyone who took part, from our club and others, and thank you to Swallows for hosting the event.

Congratulations Lisa and Clare on passing their latest coaching exams

The headline pretty much says it all… Congratulations to coaches Lisa Tope and Clare Wakely as they both had their assessments for their latest Level 3 coaching modules, and we are delighted for them as they both successfully passed.

Lisa is now qualified up to Level 3 Module 1, and Clare up to Module 3. This is a great testament to the work they have put in and to their abilities as coaches, and will benefit our members even more. Thank you as well to the gymnasts they coach, who made themselves available to help out with the assessments.

Alton crown new British Trampoline Champion!

We are delighted to announce that Stuart Sharpe became a British Champion this past weekend! The 2015 Trampoline, Tumbling and Double-Mini Trampoline British Championships took place in Liverpool and Stuart was competing in the finals of the Disability Mens Category 1 National A group, where he produced his highest score of the season to win the the Gold medal.

It is a terrific achievement and caps off an incredible season for Stu who, having returned to action after a year off, had earlier in the year won the Double Mini-Trampoline Level 6 group at the National Finals.

With their successful performances throughout the season, both Stuart and Dan had successfully qualified for the Finals. While unfortunately Dan wasn’t able to make it, their successes, along with the other competitors in the Disability Trampoline category, are a real inspiration, and a testament to the hard work that both the gymnasts and their coaches put in.

The day was capped off when the presentations took place where, not only did Stuart get presented with his medal and trophy, but the coaches were also recognised, where “proud coach” Sylvia was also invited up to receive her trophy. Huge congratulations to the both of them!

These results also mean that in 2015 Alton Trampoline Club has seen members achieve medals at the British Championships, the National Finals, as well as the National Schools Finals, in a quite extraordinary year for the club – for a club run solely by volunteers this is a real success story and a remarkable achievement for its members!

Alton promoting modern coaching with Video Analysis System

Technology is always advancing, and Alton Trampoline Club is adding innovating methods of learning for its performers with the purchase of a new modern Video Analysis system.

Used by some of the elite clubs in the country, the system allows performers and coaches to record skills in HD, and use the touchscreen to view and highlight specific areas to enable instant visual feedback.

We were delighted to invite ex-councillor Nicholas Branch, along with Laurie Redstone, the Chairman of The Winton Players, to demonstrate the system and show how enthusiastic the gymnasts were in using it. We are incredibly grateful to The Winton Players for a donation they gave to the Club, and to Nicholas Branch and East Hampshire District Council for the grant that they provided. We wanted to demonstrate to them the positive effect the system will have on the gymnasts and how much this will help to benefit the club.

We would also like to thank CMA Sports Analysis who supplied the new system, and have supplied equipment for use by elite athletes at Basingstoke Gymnastics Club, and Edgebarrow Trampoline Club among others.

We look forward to using the system to continue to provide the best opportunities for local gymnasts to improve at trampolining.
